Building a deck in Green Oak TownshipFor residents that live in Green Oak township, the permit process has two steps. Armed with 4 sets of construction plans (this includes the plot plan), you must go to the Livingston County Building department first. Before Green Oak will accept the deck plans you must get the drainage commission, to sign off on them. This is just an extra step and they will usually charge you around $50 for their stamp. Once the plans are stamped you can then take them to the Green Oak Building Department for review. Based on our experience, it will take about a week for the plans to be approved. Also, keep in mind that they do not perform inspections on Fridays.
